Cocktails of the Week from The Ravens Club

I got an opportunity to preview the soon-to-be-opening Ravens Club in Ann Arbor, Michigan this weekend. The bar staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and it was definitely a treat to be imbibing in such a vibrant, sumptuous space – love that Prohibition vibe!

I tried several cocktails, and will probably be posting about them all in the next few weeks. Here are two of The Ravens Club originals:

The Ravens Club Cocktail

The drink is comprised of Woodford Reserve bourbon, Amaro, Warre’s Nimrod port, fresh lemon and egg white. A creamy medium brown, it has a frothy, creamy texture that belies the earthy seriousness of the taste. The bourbon is very forward, but not overwhelming, which is somewhat surprising given the lack of sweetness. The nuttiness of the port balances with the bitter Amaro perfectly.

The Corktown Honey Bee

Definitely a sweeter concoction, this one uses local honey from Detroit and fresh thyme. Balancing the sweetness is the Flor de Cana Extra-Dry Rum and a splash of fresh squeezed lemon juice. The perfect thing to sip on the patio!

So, if you happen to be in the Detroit/Ann Arbor area, be sure to head over to The Ravens Club. They open to the public this Friday, May 13th!

Cheers from The Bar Fly!
